Updates
Hi everyone!
It is your favorite curator-in-chief, Charles.
I hope you enjoyed the latest issue of Distroid.
As you can tell, I have moved Distroid to a weekly basis from a monthly basis. I will try this out for the next 2 - 3 months to see if Distroid receives more attention and if it is easier to publish than a monthly newsletter.
I plan to create new sections under Distroid’s Substack so that the weekly newsletter does not cover too much information.
The newsletter sections I plan to add to Distroid include:
Spotlight: covering individuals and organizations at the frontier
Digest: curated findings from the frontier
Notes: notes and commentary on a reading from the frontier
Vocabulary: highlighting a term from the frontier
Staff: notes and announcements from Distroid’s curators and staff
Digest will replace the current Distroid newsletter.
Lastly, Distroid Premium is suspended until further notice. I am re-thinking the services and subscription model that would work best for Distroid.
Content-feed Ranking Algorithms
Content-feed ranking algorithms are also on my mind. I recently read GPT is Rather Good at Feed Ranking and it got me thinking about the features I would like in a ranking algorithm.
What features in content do you look for?
Personally, I look for:
Novelty
Intersectionality
Trustworthiness
Riveting (i.e., it is not a boring read)
Simplicity (plain language)
