Early work on developing the Distroid Curator Algorithm (DCA), a feed-ranking algorithm for curating content from Distroid
We recently published Distroid: Developing the Distroid Curator Algorithm for Ranked Feeds based on the Sensemaking Markers on PubPub, covering our first attempt at developing the Distroid Curator Algorithm (DCA) (Version 0.1), a feed-ranking algorithm.
The DCA is expected to produce a ranked feed of content that increases understanding of frontier information. We assume that items with higher scores have the potential to provide readers with a greater understanding of frontier information than items with a lower score.
The DCA produces a single score for each piece of content, based on the following sensemaking markers:
ELI5,
Implications,
Idea Machine Intersectionality,
Novelty,
Informative, and
Evergreen.
We created five example feeds, based on five different scoring methods we applied to the ratings from the sensemaking markers mentioned above.
The content from our feeds came from Distroid Digest Issue 44.
